Five home remedies to avoid swine flu

  • Have five duly washed leaves of Tulsi everyday in the morning. It keeps throat and lungs clear and helps in infections by way of strengthening your immunity.
  • Have two pods of raw garlic first thing in the morning. To be swallowed daily with lukewarm water.
  • Those not allergic to milk must take a glass of hot or lukewarm milk every night with a small measure of haldi (turmeric).
  • Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich Amla (Indian gooseberry) juice.
  • Last but not the least; wash your hands frequently every day with soap and warm water for 15-20 seconds.

Trend Alert : Plaid attack

If you are a delhihite like me and a college student then you certainly must have seen a lot of plaid stuff around lately. It is something everyone from fashionistas to geeks must have in their wardrobe, as this trend is going to last long. The trend of plaid capris was started by Katrina Kaif in the movie New York. Now you can find similar capris flooded all over the market. But trust me yaar, they are very comfortable and light (good for those who have to travel a lot, like me: badnaseeb). Another good buy would be a plaid shirt both for girls and guys. You can pair it with skinny jeans for a laidback look. The best thing about plaid is it can be worn by everyone - petite to large. You look put together and smart if worn with the right clothes and accessories (see pic). The only drawback is wearing plaid from head to toe can be killing, and should be avoided at any cost. So, if you have any plaid piece of clothing take them out and wear them now; and if you don't have any rush to the market to grab them...they are worth it!!

DU colleges future breeding ground for Swine Flu

The number of students in schools infected from swine flu has gone up drastically in the last one month. The school authorities took the right step by closing schools for some time and postponing all mass gathering events like award functions and inter school fests. Though schools
have been reopened attendance is not compulsory and parents of wards who are doctors have been invited to impart information about H1N1 virus. But nothing like this has happened till now in any of the colleges in Delhi University. A lot of private universities have been closed so that at least count of those infected does not go up. Students from all walks of life, from all places come to college regularly. Some like live quite far and have to travel a lot. So just imagine the consequences of such lenient behavior by our government and think how this might be the beginning of another epidemic like plague. The irony is the place where Swine flu initially originated from i.e, Mexico has got the situation under control. And we are reeling under the threat of an epidemic. I have to go college tomorrow again where I take a metro and two buses to go(approximately 15 people) to my college (approximately 35 people). So if anyone has swine flu think how fast it will spread, think not only of me but everybody else who cannot confine themselves in houses. Think how many people you meet in a day or speak to and then imagine how many people they must be meeting. The thought will be mind boggling and so are the numbers. In the past one month 864 people have been infected with swine flu. Shocked??? Then write about what you feel about this issue.

Freshers Party

We had our freshers party on 31 july (friday), the theme for the english department was "Creatures from the dark side of moon". When I had first heard about the theme, I knew I would dress up either as a an evil witch or an alien. After coming home papa said that he would be making a headgear and goggles for me. The next day he made them up for me and they turned out to be wonderful (i'll upload the pics in a few days). Once I was wearing them people complimented me saying my getup looked cute!! Then we went to the common room where I introduced myself as Jadu's brother (character from an indian flick). On saying that my antennas are standing since i first saw my girlfriend everybody broke into splits of laughter. Then there were some fun games which more then the first years our seniors enjoyed, as the novels and the characters were not familiar to the fuchchas. Later in the evening we had some cultural programme which I could not watch till the end. I had to leave at 6:00 as I live in Nourt Delhi while my college Lady Shri Ram is in South Delhi, it takes 2 hours for me to travel (its damn tyring). So I reached my place at 8:00, told my parents how it was had dinner and slept......zzzzzzzzz.
